HealthFinders Collaborative is now holding dental clinics at Greenvale Park Elementary School. Renae Blome, HealthFinders’ Dental Coordinator, provides initial assessments and fluoride varnishes. With the consent of a parent, any child under the age of 18 with medical assistance or no dental insurance could get seen in this clinic, either as a scheduled appointment or as a walk-in. During her assessments, Renae educates the children and their parents on the importance of flossing and brushing teeth before bed, changes in a child’s mouth, and what care they might need in the future. If needed, Renae schedules or referrs the kids for further workup like X-rays and sealants at the Faribault HFC clinic. Emily Carroll, HealthFinders’ Director of Clinical Care is very pleased how the clinics are going. "We were able to both provide direct care and connect patients to much-needed dental care. With the dental clinic, our monthly diabetes class, direct-care patient visits, and a full Zumba class, HealthFinders is meeting the needs in the local community!” HealthFinders will hold clinics again in the Spring (date TBD). Parents are welcome to schedule an appointment although walk-ins are welcome. Children whose parents sign a consent form ahead of time (available in the nurse’s office) are welcome to come to the clinic without their parents. Appointments may be scheduled by calling 507-323-8100.
