This December, the Northfield Healthy Community Initiative (HCI) selected our very own Diane Pearsall, volunteer interpreter, as the recipient for the “Making A Difference” award! This award recognizes members of our community who help to make Northfield a better place for young people, and Diane does exactly that. Emily Carroll, nurse practitioner at HealthFinders noted that "Diane's consideration and care for our patients - young and old - is outstanding and her generous spirit and good nature lifts everyone's mood even during the busiest clinics." Patient Advocate Herlen Barcenas adds, “This award could not have gone to a better or more selfless person.” Diane has been an interpreter with HFC since 2010 volunteering over 1,000 hours for HFC, making her one of our longest-serving and most dedicated volunteers. She interprets in the clinic, diabetes classes, and helps review documents HFC sends her way. She does so in an engaging way with patients, and is an overall pleasant presence in the clinic as she works on her knitting and chats between visits. In 2017 HFC worked with nearly 100 volunteers and student interns, providing nearly 4,000 hours of time, talent, and expertise in our community. We could not do what we do without the passion and commitment of volunteers like Diane. Diane received many nominations for this award, and we are so excited to see her recognized for all her hard work. We are incredibly lucky to have a volunteer so dedicated to HealthFinders, and look forward to continuing working with Diane.
