Happy Wellness Wednesday! Did you know that exercise has more than just physical benefits? According to Mayo Clinic, any type of exercise can help with your stress management. When we are constantly stressed, this can affect not only our mental health, but our physical health as well. Chronic stress can lead to muscle tensions which can lead to headaches and migraines and can also lead to increased blood pressure. With constant stress experienced over a prolonged period of time, stress hormones can increase blood pressure, and this can lead to hypertension, and even a heart attack or a stroke. 


With exercise, it not only increases your overall health, physically but also increases your overall sense of wellbeing. When you exercise, your brain releases endorphins, which is a neurotransmitter that leads to increased mood. With the help of these endorphins, exercise and activity can reduce the negative effects that stress puts on your body.


While stress can leave you more liable for illnesses, physical activity can help strengthen cardiovascular, digestive, and immune systems. It can also help increase mood, help you relax, and lower symptoms of mild depression and anxiety. 



Luckily, if you are looking for a way to get active, HealthFinders’ Pura Vida program offers Zumba classes that contain a fun and supportive group environment which introduces more activity into daily lifestyle. From cardiovascular and strength training to toning, there is something for everyone participating in this rhythm packed activity. All classes are free and open to the public and currently take place at Spring Creek Park Monday – Friday from 6-7pm. Relieve some stress today and get active for a happier and healthier life!
