Key Partners Invest to Keep HealthFinders on the Front Lines

Hundreds of individuals and organizations support HealthFinders Collaborative (HFC) each year because of its mission to provide access to healthcare for those who need it. But having great aspirations alone is insufficient. Partners and donors also give to HealthFinders because they have confidence in our work. Recently, three large organizations made immediate financial investments in HealthFinders during the COVID-19 pandemic. These gifts support our mission and are a testament to the confidence and trust such organizations have in the HealthFinders team.

Staying Strong During the Healthcare Crisis The Medica Foundation, Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation, and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) have all given HealthFinders recent grants to ensure that our organization stays strong during this healthcare crisis. The resources will fund a variety of key initiatives, including:

  1. Strengthening the communication technology between HealthFinders and other Rice County health providers to help facilitate seamless information sharing when appropriate.

  2. Investing in HealthFinders' new Faribault facility to provide overflow capacity to local hospitals.

  3. Providing operational support during the immediate economic strain to assure HealthFinders continues to serve patients in need.

  4. Supporting increased testing and population monitoring capabilities.

The

Medica Foundation has been a partner of HFC since the organization's earliest days in the church basement. “HealthFinders Collaborative is a valued community partner, providing important health care and services for underserved people in their community,” says JoAnn Birkholz, executive director of the Medica Foundation. “The Medica Foundation is proud to have supported them over the past ten years and now during the COVID-19 pandemic.” The foundation sent HFC an unsolicited gift to support with COVID-19-related efforts and will be instrumental in keeping HFC responding at full strength during these uncertain times.

The

Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation is also a long-time supporter of HFC, supporting establishment of HFC’s dental program since it began in 2014 and providing consistent responsive grants since then. In response to COVID-19, they launched the DDMN CAREs (Continued Access and Relief Efforts) through their foundation. “The program is meant to provide financial support to HFC while they stay on the front lines of this challenge,” says Joe Lally, executive director of the Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation. “This grant offers funds intended to help HFC get through this crisis."

Finally, HFC has had several projects with the Minnesota Department of Health throughout its history. HFC is among health organizations on the front lines across the state to support COVID-19 response efforts. With a recent emergency grant of over $150,000, HFC is able to prepare its facility and operations for many local contingencies, including serving as a community testing site, offering overflow capacity, and providing a staging area for health workers off the health campus. Funds have also supported virtualization of HFC's operations and continued outreach to vulnerable communities during this first phase of the outbreak.

“It’s times like these that our longstanding relationships really matter,” says HFC Executive Director Charlie Mandile. “Medica, Delta Dental, and MDH have been pillars to our success since our earliest days. Now, without them, we would not be able to stay on the front lines for our community when they need us most. We are extremely grateful.”
