In honor of
Dental Assistants Recognition Week™, an annual dedication headed up by the American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) during the first week of March, HealthFinders Collaborative (HFC) celebrates Crystal Ruiz and Fausto Rodela, HFC’s dental program assistants.
Crystal joined the HFC team a few years ago. She is a single mom who learned dental assisting on the job, bringing a fantastic attitude and “sunshine” when she walks into any room.
Before joining HealthFinders, Fausto worked as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) at a local nursing home. He is very quick to learn and tech savvy. After working with HFC’s dental program, Fausto returned to school to pursue a career in dental hygiene/dental therapy.
Strengthening Holistic, Culturally Responsive Care
Both Crystal and Fausto are bilingual in English and Spanish, which further strengthens HFC’s holistic, culturally responsive care model and helps Spanish-speaking patients feel at ease.
Because of Fausto and Crystal’s efficiency and willingness to learn new techniques and processes, HFC is able to serve more dental patients each year.
“The impact our dental assistants make in the lives of high-need dental patients is expressed every day with the dedication and passion they have for helping others,” says HFC Dental Program Coordinator and Collaborative Practice Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) Renae Blome. “They add value to people's lives through continuity of care and empowering patients to take ownership for not only their oral health, but their overall health. Crystal and Fausto have so many unique gifts and talents that have guided them to become amazing dental assistants at HealthFinders Collaborative,” Renae adds.
