There has been a lot of buzz concerning the new delta variant of COVID-19. According to the CDC, the Delta variant is more than 2 times as contagious as the previous variants and data suggests that it might cause more severe illness than the previous strains in unvaccinated people. Although it is true that people who are fully vaccinated can get COVID and be contagious, they are likely to be infectious for a shorter period of time and the people most vulnerable are still those who are unvaccinated.  The vaccine against COVID is one of the best ways to protect yourself and your loved ones. Although fully vaccinated people can still become infected, the vaccine provides very strong protection against serious illness and death. Another great way to prevent the spread of disease is to mask up in public, enclosed spaces. The CDC recommends using layered prevention strategies that include wearing masks even if you are vaccinated.
